Legal Foundation
The Prime Minister issued Decision No. 14/2005/QĐ-TTg on the Regulations on the Organisation and Operation of Private Universities, paving the way for the establishment of non-public higher education institutions in Vietnam.

Founding of Danang Architecture University
In response to the proposal of Architect Phạm Sỹ Chức — former Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Architects and former President of the Da Nang Association of Architects — and the Founding Council, Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng signed Decision No. 270/2006/QĐ-TTg establishing the University. The main campus at 566 Nui Thanh Street, Hoa Cuong Ward, Da Nang City was completed in that same month, 11/2006.

Building and Growing
DAU has steadily established its position in higher education in the Central and Central Highlands region: training architects and engineers while researching ancient and vernacular architecture, helping to shape local and Vietnamese national architectural styles.
2018
A Turning Point Towards International Standards
DAU welcomed its new Rector — Dr. Arch. Phạm Anh Tuấn, who graduated in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago, USA. A series of reforms was launched: investment in facilities and the renewal of training programmes, teaching methods and assessment processes.

A Nationally Accredited Multidisciplinary Institution
DAU was recognised as meeting national educational quality accreditation standards and certified for its ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, continuing to pursue its multidisciplinary, multi-vocational training orientation for the 2020–2030 period.
DAU Today
From an idea first conceived by Architect Phạm Sỹ Chức and his dedicated colleagues, DAU has today become a multidisciplinary higher education institution with 8 academic faculties, 16 undergraduate programmes, more than 400 staff and lecturers, over 8,000 current students and about 40,000 students who have been or are being trained, now working in many fields across the country.
